Pork prices rise and egg and chicken costs climb in market report
Prices for pork rose about 20 cents per pound with loins up from 1.19 to 1.39 at a Cleveland market. Wholesale loins jumped to 1.10 from 95 cents. Egg prices may rise up to 15 cents per dozen, and chicken could reach 69 cents per pound in parts of Ohio as price ceilings end. An Ohio State economist forecasts egg prices higher into 1974. Vendors report broader cost increases and shifting consumer buying.
