IOP Tries To Dissuade Rhodes From Run For Governor
Dayton Ohio UPI reports influential Republican figures met two weeks earlier with former Governor James Rhodes at Oakwood home of Loren Berry to persuade him not to run in 1974. Charles D Ross outlined Rhodes reasons, meeting possibly a stalemate. Rhodes pledged support if nominated, while others noted possible neutrality only if primary resistance occurs. Kent McGough declined comment but said Rhodes fears screening committee may block another run.
