A 19-year-old Ashland man Walter Dewiel faces second degree murder charges after a Sunday morning shooting that killed 23-year-old Clifford Hartwig at a Reed Street party. Hartwig died at 6 21 a m at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Dewiel was arrested at the scene. his wife and another man were arrested for obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Authorities recovered a small caliber gun later found near Maxie Tire and sent the weapon and bullet to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for examination. Hartwig, a Norwalk resident and carpenter, is survived by his wife and daughter among other relatives. Funeral arrangements are set at Heaston Gerber Funeral Home with services Wednesday.
