America’s Surveyor 4 heads to moon for iron hunt

America’s Surveyor 4 robot prospected toward the moon to inspect an astronaut target site and search for iron on a rugged plain with a 50-50 chance of safe landing. If it succeeds, the 2290-pound craft will use a rotating TV camera a dirt digger and a magnet to study surface iron.

Cleveland dancers chase 100 hour go go world record

Nanette Marchel 21 of Hollywood Florida and Karen Kiro 16 of Euclid Ohio passed the 62 hour mark in the world go go record they began Tuesday morning. They take turns dancing for an hour each and aim to reach 100 hours before stopping.

Fifteen Thousand Shipyard Workers to be Paid at Armory

In Newport News Virginia fifteen thousand striking shipyard workers were to receive pay at an National Guard armory to prevent gatherings inside the shipyard where work on five nuclear submarines and other vessels has stalled. Police monitored bars near the plant amid violence reports.

Seitz Plans 800000 Retail Development Here

Norwalk contractor James Seitz announced an $800000 six acre retail development along the N and W tracks Benedict Avenue. First phase includes three buildings housing Gordy’s Glass Lawson Dairy Store and a dry cleaners or barbershop salon with completion planned by December 1.

Teen dies after bicycle accident with father the driver

David George LaRonde aged 15 of 206 West Main Street North Fairfield died Thursday night after his bicycle skidded on gravel and he was pinned beneath a car driven by his father Earl LaRonde. He had delivered papers and worked at Sandusky Register. He was active in band and baseball and treasurer of the Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship. Burial planned at North Fairfield Cemetery after services Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the North Fairfield Methodist Church with Rev. Daniel Carmany officiating. Surviving family includes his parents two sisters and maternal grandmother.
