Huron County deputies arrested Jeffrey G. Sherwood and Laurence K. Fitzpatrick both 20 after a routine patrol spotted their car on Lamereaux Road in the Blue Bridge area. They were charged with possession of marijuana. Sherwood was also reported absent without leave from the U S Army in Kargerne Germany. both men reside in Sandusky.

Huron County sheriff investigates a gas well eruption east of Norwalk damaging a corn field on Richard J. Jarrett property leased to Hefner Production Co. Charles Reed reported the incident. Capt. Leroy Axx of the sheriff’s auxiliary, employed by Columbia Gas, checked the Reed home area and found no immediate danger. Columbia Gas to inspect the well Monday. Field lies south of U.S. 20 between Hartland Center and Lehigh Roads.

Man Charged In Tape Theft In Huron County
David A. Youngless, 19, of rural New London, bound over to Common Pleas Court on a grand larceny charge for stealing 31 tape cartridges from a car owned by John P. Woodyard III. The theft occurred July 1 in the Friendly Corners lot. He waived a preliminary hearing and pleaded guilty before Judge Philip M. White Jr. Bond set at $1000 cash or $2000 property.
