Northern Lights visible as solar storm expands range
UPI reports scientists say extra solar disturbances over the next two days will let people from the northern United States view the Aurora Borealis, extending to Ohio Michigan and as far as Omaha Nebraska. The sun eruption on July 3 has sent charged particles toward Earth.

Fisher to Join Wilmington College Education Faculty
Dr Harlan Fisher former Monroeville superintendent of schools will become an assistant professor of education at Wilmington College Ohio next fall. He will join five faculty members in the Wilmington Department of Education. Fisher, 34, lives in Norwalk and earned degrees at Bowling Green State University. Previously he worked with Leipsic Wood County and Tiffin school systems.

Four Wheel Drive Races Draw Vast Northeastern Contingent
Some 158 competitors from states including Ohio Massachusetts Illinois New Jersey New York Pennsylvania and others gathered in Norwalk for the third Independence Rodeo. The event at Charles Schnee farm featured hill climb drag and obstacle racing with speeds up to 100 mph and 85 to 100 mph finishes. Spectators numbered 1 800 to 2 200 and 133 campers stayed on site despite a few vehicle mishaps.

Ring Lost 21 Years Found by Lancaster Man
Harry Gieg unearthed a gold wedding ring with initials and date while digging a drainage trench in Lancaster. The owner Mrs. Richard Keene said her ring vanished 21 years ago when her son Michael, then two, misplaced it. Michael, now 23, offered to collect the ring from Greg's home.

Two Houses Catch Fire in Monroeville Weekend
In Monroeville two nearby houses burned within 24 hours with limited damage. The historic three story Main Street brick house owned by Jane Marsh Stevens caught fire around 12:30 p.m. Sunday in a storage room. firefighters stayed about 90 minutes and found water and fire damage in the storeroom. A second attic fire occurred Saturday at the James Beck residence. little damage to the two story wood home.
