Entertainer Disrupts Nixon White House Event
Carol Feraci of the Ray Conniff Singers flashed a silk banner with Stop the killing during a White House Medal of Freedom event. Nixon, Mrs Nixon, and guests including Dewitt and Lila Wallace heard her remarks before Conniff halted the set. Feraci, a Toronto-born Canadian living in Los Angeles, said she sought national publicity and questioned the Vietnam War. Secret Service questioned her about the incident for over an hour. Comedian Bob Hope called it shameful as Nixon praised the performers after God Bless America.
