President Johnson in his 1967 economic plan urged business and labor to restrain wage and price increases to avoid an inflationary spiral. He forecast a record GNP of 787 billion with about 30 billion real growth and a 2.5 percent price rise, while pledging fiscal restraint and easier monetary policy after midyear.
United States Congressman Adam Clayton Powell plans a Saturday news conference on Bimini to disclose several important and fantastic statements. C Sumner Stone said Powell would address his seating status before a select committee and a libel suit linked to the House action. He may also offer to settle the suit and pay the $164,000 owed to a Harlem widow.
Ohio lawmakers proposed a bill to trigger driver re examination at nine points instead of twelve. The measure would require the registrar to notify drivers with nine points and order a license test or physical exam or both. Rep. Robert E. Levitt and Rep. Robert L. Roderer sponsored the proposal.
