Chase Brass & Copper Co. in Euclid Ohio delays layoffs by a work-a-week close-a-week schedule. Union members at the sheet mill plant, led by the International Association of Machinists, agree to shut down every other week so all 500 employees remain on the payroll while eligible for unemployment during off weeks. Cincinnati Nursing Homes Ordered to Halt New Patients

About 40 percent of Cincinnati nursing homes were ordered to accept no new patients until automatic water sprinklers for fire protection are installed as required by state law. The 21 facilities include four operated by Glass Nursing and Convalescent Homes Co, after a recent fire at a Glass home injured four people.
