Wakeman Bank elects Buckley president at meeting
Kenneth C. Buckley is re elected president of Wakeman Bank Co at the organizational meeting. Other officers include Louis P. Murray as executive vice president and cashier Richard S. Ross as vice president Bertine R. Eaton as secretary and Charles W. Bement as treasurer. Board members listed are Buckley Maynard A. Clark James A. Harrison Peter J. Mesenburg Murray Ross Thomas J. Turner and Stanton C. Vincent. Two bids for a new base radio station for the Huron County Sheriff's Department from RCA and Motorola were opened and tabled for study by Huron County Commissioners with funding partly from a federal grant via North Star. The new station will replace an over 20 year old unit and provide more frequencies and a stronger signal.

Obituary for Mary Belle Rex Willard and Lutheran meeting notes
Mary Belle Rex Willard 91 of Willard died Friday at Willard Area Hospital after a lifelong residence in the area. She taught Bible classes and held memberships in Free Methodist Church and Women's Society of Christian Service. Survivors include her son Raymond and daughter Mildred Sheely among six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral 1:30 Tuesday at Fink Lindsey Funeral Home. Burial Greenwood Cemetery. Also notes Edward Rice of Norwalk spoke at a Lutheran meeting about women’s roles in the American Lutheran Church and a Venice Ohio seminar with 86 delegates at the last national convention.
