A fire started by children playing with matches killed Christine Frasier age 15 months and injured her mother Sharon Frasier 23 and three other siblings. The mother escaped with the others and none of the injured is in serious condition.
President Johnson invites India's Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to visit the United States on February 1. The invitation was handed to her by U S Ambassador Chester Bowles during a 30 minute meeting in her office. Sen Stephen Young urges withdrawal of U S troops from Europe noting over 20 years since World War II and the burden of overseas forces.
A divorcee and her three children will soon receive a portion of the $21,259 found under a closet floor two years ago. Mrs. Harris K. Morris said an out-of-court settlement is being negotiated to provide the family a considerable amount.

State board grants funds to New London district for a 500 pupil high school. Officials estimate a 1.486 million program with 647,936 bond issue and 0.5 mill levy over 25 years, pending board acceptance and voter approval by May 20.

Russell T. Antrim seeks reelection as probate judge after filing for the May Republican primary. Arthur Leak, in his first term as Huron County commissioner and former commission chair in 1965, also filed petitions today.
Maude Shaw, Kennedy children's nurse, writes in Ladies Home Journal about telling Caroline Kennedy and John F Kennedy Jr. of their father’s death. She recalls John Jr selecting a flag for his father days before the funeral and being buried with the President.

Huron County Sheriff’s Department quotes a four dollar per day rate for boarding Richland County prisoners during jail construction. Sheriff John Borgia says a contract will list $4 per prisoner for use of the jail meals and laundry. Five prisoners maximum to be boarded at once as Richland County starts its building program in April.
Cathy Livingston a 16 year old from North Fairfield underwent open heart surgery Wednesday at Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland and was reported doing very well the day after. Twenty nine Huron County residents donated blood for the operation with two donors rejected for penicillin allergy.
