Inaugural Costs Soar as Nixon Set to Take Office
Nixon’s inauguration is priced at about 2.5 million dollars the highest in U.S. history with 400 thousand from government funds and 2.1 million from the private inaugural committee led by J Willard Marriott. The event includes a capstone oath on the Capitol steps and a six venue ball and gala schedule. Some room rates are up 10 to 25 percent as more than 20 thousand Republicans plan to attend with hotel stays booked nationwide.
