Newburgh Heights police say two men described as an AWOL Marine and an Akron-area man with a lengthy record fired a shotgun at a motorist on Interstate 77. They were arrested in Independence after a brief chase and face felonious assault charges.
Berea Ohio teachers walked out over pay fringe benefits and class size. Officials said classes would be kept in session for 15000 students while teachers urged parents to keep children home due to uncertain supervision.
Rescue teams comb the Pathfinder Hotel basement for bodies of at least six missing as the blast leaves 12 killed and 14 hospitalized. More than 40 treated for injuries as 18 nearby shops were damaged or destroyed in Fremont’s business district. Authorities suspect a gas leak caused the explosion.
