An early morning blaze gutted seven downtown buildings in East Liverpool Ohio a city of about twenty thousand. A fire department spokesman said the fire swept through a quarter block destroying a department store shoe store restaurant newspaper stand and a military recruiting office. Miracle fuel beneath farmers feet methane from cow manure

Area Man Shot In Leg Near Willard
Willard resident Andrew Burkhart Jr., 25, was shot in the lower left leg around 11:15 p.m. near the Baltimore and Ohio railroad tracks on Peru Center Road north of Ohio 103. Burkhart drove to Willard Area Hospital for treatment after a man exited a following car and fired. Deputies and the Ohio BCI investigation continued through the night.
