Huron County Board Approves 1978 Budget Increase
The Huron County Board of Education approved a 1978 budget of 351245, up 23 percent from 284499. New officers were elected, and Gerald Beck and incumbents Paul Smith and Richard Keefer took seats. Salary hikes of seven percent for staff, plus added secretary and equipment costs, drive the rise. Superintendent Lasley’s pay rises to 26007, with higher supervisory and special education salaries. The board plans a new half time secretary, capital outlay for equipment, higher mileage allowances, and a new classroom for severe behavioral disabilities. Special education costs rise, printing materials increase, and total 1978 revenue is projected at 417159, mostly from state funds.
