A North Fairfield woman advances in the Miss Ohio Pageant as Western Reserve reopens. Also noted is the dismissal of 648 suit as coverage continues inside today’s pages.
Dr. Marilyn Lucille Jolly, 31, of Sterling Colorado, will join Fisher-Titus Medical Center as the area's first pediatrician south of Sandusky and east of Fremont and Mansfield. Pending state license approval, she plans to begin Feb. 12, bringing newborn care expertise to a 14 bed pediatric ward and coordinating community education programs.
Newark based pediatric allergist Dr Irwin J Polk 53 author of Here’s to Health has been brought before the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners in a closed hearing as prosecutors seek revocation of his license over allegations he fondled caressed and made sexual remarks to five female patients aged 13 to 17 Polk denies the charges and the hearing follows the state attorney general’s filing.

Norwalk attorney William Owens and director Robert Klenk resign from the Huron County Board of Mental Health and Retardation. Klenk resigns effective March 14 after serving since 1970 with a background in social work and education. Owens cites past leadership during service and agrees the resignations reflect time to move on.
Manuel Nunes, 39, formerly of 15 Sycamore Drive, was sentenced by Common Pleas Judge Robert W. Smith to two consecutive terms totaling 3 to 10 years and 142 to 10 years for marijuana sales exceeding bulk amounts. He was moved from Huron County Jail to the Ohio State Penitentiary in handcuffs, following July 25 arrests during county narcotics raids that involved 36 indicted suspects.
The U S Environmental Protection Agency cites Ohio Edison for air pollution at its Norwalk plant. A December 20 letter notes a violation and that prosecution will be prioritized last due to the plant's small rural location. Smoke density from one boiler exceeds limits while the other is borderline.
