Former astronaut John Glenn Jr told Eagle Scouts he has no interest in returning to politics. He once pursued the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate from Ohio in 1964, pausing a brief political career.
Two astronauts Elliott Lee and Charles A Bassett II were killed when their twin engine T38 trainer crashed into a McDonnell Aircraft building during an instrument approach in dense fog. Both were slated for a Gemini 9 mission this spring and shared Ohio roots with Bassett born in Dayton and educated in Berea.

Robert E. Bell, 30, a former Norwalk resident, died of injuries from a Route 20 crash near West Unity. He told sheriff’s deputies his tractor-trailer left the road, hit a ditch and pole. the rig overturned. Bell, a Roadway Express driver from Akron, was born May 10, 1935 and served in the Army paratroopers. He is survived by parents, a brother, three sisters, and a grandmother. Services are set for 2 pm Wednesday at Heaston-Hile Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
