Western Reserve dominated rebounding and outside shooting to down New London 66-46 in the Willard Class A sectional upper bracket final. Dave Timbs led with 16 points, Norm Welch 15, Tim Parcher 14 as Western improved to 18-2 and advanced to face Mansfield St Peter or Carey in the district tournament. New London was led by Jeff Tock with 20 points.

Norwalk Reflector notes John Havlicek, legendary Celtics star and OSU standout, will retire after 16 NBA seasons. He will make a final appearance in Richfield at the Coliseum on March 16 against the Cavaliers, prompting a last chance trip organized for March 16 with a fixed ticket deadline March 6.
