Ohio Edison announces a delay in mandatory power cutbacks until at least the end of next week, reducing immediate layoffs for about 1,000 industrial customers but raising the chance of short blackouts. The utility cites coal supply at about 33 days and plans to eliminate backup spinning reserve to save coal, warning that brief outages could occur.
