The Nevada Senate voted Tuesday night to join 35 states as the 36th to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. The measure seeks to prohibit sex based discrimination, with 38 states needed by 1979 to amend the constitution.

Richard Trausch and Patrick J Fast face arson and related charges in the Bucyrus City Hall bombing case moved to Delaware County for trial.
Veteran center Nate Thurmond of the Cleveland Cavaliers will have knee surgery after tearing cartilage in his left knee in a 97 81 loss to the Houston Rockets. At 35, Thurmond is in his 14th NBA season, acquired with Rowland Garrett from the Chicago Bulls on November 27, 1975, and his season-ending injury represents the club's most severe setback in seven years.

Catherine M. Murray of 27 Harris St. has filed petitions to run for Norwalk city council at large. The Republican rival, Isgee J aearcey, 67, active in county party groups since 1948, cites her business background and time to devote to the job. Murray, retired, previously ran a Western Auto store and worked six years in juvenile court. her son Joseph Murray is a Kent State psychology professor.
