Ohio Turnpike food prices may rise under proposal

The Ohio Turnpike Commission will consider a price increase proposal from Howard Johnsons restaurants and Gladieux Foods Inc for most foods on the turnpike. Executive Director Allan V Johnson did not disclose the requested increase amount. The commission already controls prices on top selling items including hot sandwiches milk coffee canned drinks ice cream and breakfast and dinner dishes.

Ohio Gas Purchase Is Okayed

The Federal Power Commission authorized Columbia Gas Transmission Co to buy 60 million cubic feet of natural gas daily from Pacific Lighting Service Co. The gas will aid winter delivery, be stored underground, and shared across several states. Additional gas may flow in from Texas as producers contact utilities.

Watch Stolen 50 Years Ago Recovered in Columbus

Rhodes seeks 90 million grant to ease Ohio heating bills

Gov. James A. Rhodes asked President Carter for a 90 million dollar federal grant to help about 300 000 Ohio families pay home heating costs and avert personal tragedy. He also sought formal disaster declaration due to the extreme cold winter.

Ohio counties receive federal snow removal aid

The U S Disaster Assistance Administration said Huron County is eligible for federal aid to clear snow blocked roads. Deputy DAA Coordinator Dennis Kwiatkowski announced $250,000 in contracts to local firms for snow removal. The funds, granted after President Carter’s emergency declaration, will support 24 counties in Ohio.
