Cupid Arrives Airmail in Loveland Valentine Postmark

Loveland Colorado posts the annual Valentine re mail program. Volunteers reseal envelopes with a four line cachet and hold them for mailing just before February 14. Postmaster Henry Porter notes requests come from all states and many foreign countries. Last year 200000 valentines were re mailed and this year should top that. The service is free beyond 15 cent postage. Send to Postmaster Loveland Colorado 80537 to arrive by February 9.

Three Elderly Women Found Dead In Ohio Homes

In Youngstown area authorities confirmed the bodies of three elderly women including two sisters found in their Struthers basement after mail went uncollected. Helen Misinaj 61 and sister Josephine 59 died likely of heart attack. Victoria Kupec 69 found dead under rubble in a unheated four room Craig Beach cottage.

Petition Drives To Restore Case Street Light In Norwalk

Norwalk Public Library staff expect to present petitions with about 200 signatures at Tuesday's council meeting urging reinstallation of the Case Street traffic light. Librarian Judy Born says three library board members will attend after contacting signers. The light was removed last October during a police study and to permit Ohio Edison pole work.

Farmers Parade Clash With Police In Washington

In Washington a large protest by the American Agriculture Movement brought 2000 tractors and pickup trucks into town to press Congress for higher crop price supports. Police used teargas and billy clubs as some clashes occurred, with six arrests and minor injuries reported. The tractor procession moved toward the Agriculture Department and Capitol Hill, amid confrontations, a burning tractor, and tense rush hour traffic. Senator Larry Pressler joined the motorcade, voicing support for family farmers against corporate operations.
