Ohio Wins Ford's Nod For National Park
President Ford signed a bill creating the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area spanning about 20 000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron. The measure authorizes up to 34.5 million for land and 0.5 million for development with a 4.2 million state contribution. The park will be administered by the interior department with local police and fire services provided without federal reimbursement. Senators Taft and Metzenbaum urged signing, noting regional growth and energy conservation needs.
