A break in at Sunshine Motors on U S 224 was found by a sheriff deputy during a routine patrol. Lt. John Osterland spotted entry through a rear window and exit via a side door at 3 a m. Owner Bill Inmon was called as drawers and cabinets were rifled and inventory awaits.
Mansfield workers at the T&A Thrift-T-Mart grocery chain threaten a Sunday strike after failed talks with Retail Clerks International Union. A three-year pact expires at midnight with union members to vote on acceptance or strike at a 10 a.m. meeting. Picket lines could form at 10 T&A stores in north central Ohio.
Four men face charges of causing physical harm after a free-for-all at the Horseshoe Bar in Milan. Dennis Sayre, who suffered a head wound requiring seven stitches, filed complaints in Huron County Court. Gary Perry, Sam Perry, David Perry, and Roger Hamilton are named defendants. Gary Perry had prior aggravated menacing charges and posted a $2,500 bond after arraignment.
A Willard woman Martha Moore pleaded guilty to receiving welfare payments illegally and was placed on probation for three years. She must repay $844 to the Huron County Welfare Department after her arraignment in Common Pleas Court. Judge Robert J. Vetter presided with Assistant Prosecutor Richard Hauser supporting repayment planning.
