Alcatraz Pow Wow Invites Tribes Nationwide

UPI reports tribes are invited to a pow wow on Alcatraz to seek support for the group occupying the former federal prison since November 20. Invitations were sent to 5,000 tribes, bands and organizations claiming the island under a treaty returning government abandoned property to Indians.

Israel raids Jordan and battles, reports say

Israel launched warplane raids into Jordan for the third day and fought a 75 minute artillery duel with Lebanon. Israel claimed its troops raided a major Egyptian naval station on the Red Sea while Washington weighed limits on arms sales after Israel rejected a U.S. settlement plan for the conflict.

Robbery at Woolworths Office Nets Nearly $300

An armed man robbed the manager of the F W Woolworth Co on East Main Street taking about $300. The gunman forced the manager to disrobe and fled as officers opened a search aided by a BCI composite drawing. Fox Bounty Fund Exhausted in Huron County

In the last week of 1969 the Huron County fox bounty fund ran dry. A man turned in seven sets of fox feet but only enough money remained for six bounties, each set worth two dollars. The fund allocates $1,000 annually for red and gray fox bounties payable per four feet. Foxes may await 1970 funding.

Texas financier H Ross Perot arrives in Hong Kong en route to Bangkok to press for access to Hanoi for delivering 1400 Christmas dinners and medical supplies to U S prisoners of war.
