Norwalk Faces $556693 City Pension Bill Under New State System
Norwalk reports a $556,693 cost to bring city pension accounts up to date under Ohio’s new State Fire and Policemen Pension System. City Auditor Hipp notes additional 4 percent interest if paid over 20 years and starting Jan 1 further contributions to keep the fund current. The retroactive law covers retirees and widows, with $310,000 allocated to six retired police at 20 years, plus sums for widows and active officers and firemen. Hipp says the plan aims to solvent pensions though higher ongoing city costs may strain budgets.

Another Christmas Stocking for Ryder Family Baby
In the Reflector series on area families at Christmas the Ryder household adds a new member Andy a 15 month old adopted from Korea. Dr. Ryder and Jan have another adopted son Mat and two daughters Patty and Jill. Wayne E. Pickerell a 31 year old man picked up in Norwalk was arraigned in Huron County Court after pleading guilty to a bad check charge. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and fined 100 dollars. He faces extradition to Iowa and Missouri.
