Convicted Ex-Congressman Hastings Faces Sentencing
A federal jury found James Hastings of southwestern New York guilty on 20 counts of mail fraud and 8 counts of filing false payroll information from 35 indictments. He admitted during the trial that he used kickbacks from employees to buy cars snowmobiles boats and pay his children’s college expenses. College Professor From City Killed in I-71 Auto Crash
Paul A. Levers, 56, economics professor at Cleveland State University and former Norwalk car dealer, died in a three car wreck on icy I-71 near Brunswick. The collision occurred 11:32 p.m. Thursday on a bridge over Ohio 303. Levers was trapped in his Fiat. Ricky Hogue, 22, was cited for failure to control. Levers’ obituary notes a long career in accounting and academia, with surviving wife Iona and three sons. Funeral Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Wooster.
