The Norwalk Board of Education accepted budget figures and certified tax levies to the Huron County auditor. A 4.80 mill rate within the ten mill limit will raise 818,236 with 643,140 for the general fund and 175,096 for bond retirement. Outside ten mill limit a 24.30 mill rate will raise 161,627 with 158,260 for the general fund and 3,367 for bond retirement. Dr. Sturgis R. Corbin said taxes will rise about 17,000 in 1966 due to higher valuations. He noted five prior current-expense levies expire in 1968 and there will be no renewals in 1966 or 1967 unless the board acts early. The total of five levies is 19.10 mills.
