Bronson Elementary student council members spread Christmas spirit by decorating classrooms and hallways. Scott Blymeyer adjusted a hallway decoration while he and 13 peers painted Christmas scenes on windows, adorned a tree with ornaments, and decked the halls.
The county commissioners selected Magnus & Company of Cincinnati to underwrite a $360000 adults training center bond issue for Christie Lane School. The 20 year bonds carry six and one eighth percent interest with a $1501 premium to the county. Seasongood & Mayer offered a higher premium but at 6 percent. State to fund remaining balance.
The county awarded a three year lease to cultivate Shady Lane Farm to Norwalk farmer Robert Sparks. Sparks bid $88 per acre for the 160 acre parcel, beating nine other bidders whose offers ranged from $88 to $58. The land now rents at $40 per acre, promising more than doubling of county income.
Police dealt with multiple incidents including a Fairway Circle man with a butcher knife in his car after a domestic dispute and a 20 year old man held on violent behavior charges after beating his girlfriend. Augusta L. Jones was jailed in Michigan after allegedly pulling a gun at a Clark Gas Station. A separate case involved three 16 year old Norwalk boys cited as runaways.
A young Norwalk man James N. Erwin 19 narrowly avoided a plunge into the Huron River when his car slid into a guard rail and bridge railing on Lovers Lane Road near the Coho Dam. The left front tire caught on the abutment, stopping the car from toppling. An ambulance attended and Erwin was pulled free unharmed.
