Florida campaign HQ for George Wallace was broken into over the weekend. A Wallace aide called the incident a mini Watergate as intruders took an eight inch readout with Florida contributor names, letterhead, worker addresses, and about $200 in petty cash from the Blackstone Building offices.
President Ford threatens to veto any tax cut bill unless Congress accepts a $395 billion ceiling on FY 1977 federal spending. Senate leaders plan a brief extension to avoid rising withholding rates on January 1, with both sides expecting an inevitable veto clash and victory claims.
Philadelphia police say they questioned many people from the homosexual community in connection with the death of John S. Knight, the 30 year old millionaire newspaper heir. Investigators sought clues tied to items found in Knight's apartment.
Gov. James A. Rhodes stated that no state employee will be reimbursed for alcoholic beverages while serving in office. The stand follows a recommendation by Rep. Harry Lehman that employees on expense accounts should be allowed to drink with meals and be compensated for those drinks.

A Norwalk businesswoman, Mrs. Sarah Bradstreet, was injured when a 450 pound spinet fell from a semi-trailer at a Main Street music store. She received cuts and bruises and was taken by ambulance to Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital. The incident followed a driver refusing to unload without help from a student and Mrs. Bradstreet.
Norwalk police request witness statements about a two car crash at Linwood Avenue and Main Street. A blue station wagon and a gray sedan with burgundy roof collided around noon. drivers gave conflicting stories and no injuries were reported.
