The first copies of the Huron County Bicentennial calendar will be sold at the Firelands Museum open house Sunday from 1 30 to 5 30 PM. The calendars include 60 sketches of local buildings and were not ready until next week.
United Airlines canceled all flights for the day as more than 16 700 union workers went on strike after failed contract talks. The walkout followed a federal cooling off period expiring at midnight with talks set to continue under a federal mediator.
The Communist party newspaper Pravda called for an all-out effort in 1976 to raise grain production in the Soviet Union. It urged maximum attention, efforts and material resources, but did not specify 1975 harvest figures.
Amtrak announced fare increases of five to 10 percent on most routes over the next two months. The first rise takes effect December 15 on unreserved short-distance trains in the Washington to Boston corridor, while the Metroliner stays unchanged. A second phase on February 1 will raise most coach fares and some first class fares on long-distance trains.

Manila officials called the welcome the greatest to a U S visitor, while Marcos named the United States the Philippines' strongest ally amid talks on Clark Field and Subic Bay bases. Ford affirmed enduring friendship and joint WWII bonds as he wrapped Asian talks.
The PRC is returning the remains of two U.S. Navy fliers shot down in 1966 and 1967 while confirming six missing aircraft were shot down. Names include Lt. Cmdr. James L. Buckley and Kenneth W. Pugh. Robert Flynn was captured and freed in 1973. The disclosures followed President Ford's Peking visit.
