Toledo Teachers Vote To Strike In Snowbound City

Several thousand Toledo teachers voted to strike until the Board of Education funds their pay. About half of the district's 4,400 teachers attended a mass meeting at a Masonic Hall. Snowstorm closed all Toledo schools.

Iraq Walks Out of Arab Summit Over Egypt Policy

Iraq walked out of a Libyan called Arab summit while remaining leaders and the PLO signed an agreement freezing diplomatic ties with Egypt. Algeria Libya Syria Southern Yemen and the PLO endorsed the accord. The move aimed to isolate President Sadat and weaken anti-Egypt measures.

Evelyn Gilbert Named Acting Ad Manager at The Reflector

Ohio Miners Jump Gun In Coal Strike

Nearly 3,500 Ohio coal miners stayed off the job in early bird walkouts and eight deep mines were closed. Consolidation Coal Co. and Peabody units in Meigs and Coshocton counties faced closures, with hundreds of workers affected across Eastern and Southern Ohio.

Snowstorm Closes Schools Across Ohio With Heavy Snow

A major snowstorm battered Huron County Ohio with up to six inches in places and 40 mph winds near Toledo. Schools closed or delayed, motorists slid into ditches, the Ohio Turnpike saw jackknifed trucks, and road crews salted and plowed as temperatures near the teens drop tonight.

Young Trial Underway For Murder Of Thomas Dillon

Ronald E. Young faces trial for the June 4 stabbing death of Thomas A. Dillon whose body was found near North Hester Street.
