Development Of Colonial Land Hitting Snags
Norwalk contractor Robert E. White, who bought the Colonial Hotel site for 27500 last July, faces financing and zoning hurdles for a 12000 square foot professional building. A parking lot within 300 feet may satisfy zoning. a city lot across Whittlesey Avenue exists. White plans a Board of Zoning Appeals variance and notes the site now has a sewage spill and standing water after hotel demolition. He aims to backfill the hole if no basement is used, while city officials dispute private site barricade rules.
