Multiple Vehicle Accidents Reported Across Local Roads
A Berlin Heights teen’s car went off Gregory Road striking a telephone pole after failing to negotiate a curve. Nancy Knittle, 16, was driving the 1.5 miles south of Route 99. Virl Keene, 26, was charged after his pickup hit the rear of the Knittle vehicle on US 224. An unidentified vehicle fled the scene. Alger Risner, 43, Greenwich, lost control on Boughtonville Road and struck a mailbox before ending in a ditch. A car backed into a metal post near Pleasant Street and Carey Place, while Michael Martin, 17, said his accelerator stuck on Pleasant and a train crossing forced him to stop. Donald Lair, 24, New Carlisle, was killed when a bulldozer struck a tree branch on a farm near Troy.
