Ammonia drying system eyed to cut farmers energy use
Ammonia gas is proposed as a drying aid for corn to reduce energy needs. Developed at the USDA Northern Regional Research Center in Peoria, EPA approved its use for feed corn. The method uses a half pound of ammonia per 1,000 pounds of corn, potentially saving significant fuel and heating homes if adopted nationwide.
