Willard Man Arrested for Breaking and Entering
Huron County deputies arrested 18 year old Jerry Philip Wright of Cable Village Willard at 12 45 Saturday morning on breaking and entering charges. He is jailed and due in Common Pleas Court today. Norwalk Township Trustees canceled tonight s meeting and rescheduled for 8 pm Tuesday. In Mansfield Robert L Pinkavia was sentenced to four to 25 years for four counts of rape and three to ten years for sexual battery after pleading guilty to all charges.

Cosmonauts End 175 Day Space Mission in Kazakhstan
Vladimir Lyakhov and Valery Ryumin landed 100 miles southeast of Dzerkazgan after a 175 day mission aboard Soyuz 32 and the Salyut 6 space lab. They were carried from the capsule due to gravity adaptation and greeted by bouquets from ground crews.

Patrolman Arthur R. Sisler Promoted to Sergeant
Arthur R. Sisler of the Norwalk Ohio Highway Patrol Post has been promoted to sergeant and will serve as assistant post commander at Castalia. A Canton native, he joined the patrol in 1972 and has been stationed at Norwalk since then. He was Norwalk Trooper of the Year in 1976 1977 and 1978 and top officer of the Bucyrus district in 978. He and his wife Nelda have two sons named Arthur and Andrew.

The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Linwood Road on Saturday at 11 55 a m. Investigators believe the blaze started from a backfiring carburetor. The incident was reported by local authorities and no injuries were reported.

Bumper Beat Injuries From Weekend Crashes Near New London
A New London woman, Sharon L. Wilcox, 26, was injured when her car hit a tree and rolled onto its side on Ohio 60 north of New London and is in fair condition at New London Hospital. She was cited for excessive speed. Also cited for excessive speed were a Norwalk driver on U.S. 250 near Lais Road, Samuel P. Mundy, 54, 35 W. Washington St., after his tractor trailer left the road and hit a mailbox, and Juan J. Trevino, 48, Brownsville, Texas, on Ohio 103 south of Celeryville after his truck went out of control. Martin D. Pippin, 47, Akron, was cited for driving under the influence and under suspension after a Norwood Avenue crash with a parked car. Norwalk Ambulance Service made two weekend runs, transporting Suzy Thomas and Naomi Maurer to Fisher-Titus for injuries and medical needs respectively.

Vermilion man arrested after Kroger hold up
A 20 year old Vermilion man Richard L. Baker held up the Kroger on Milan Avenue and was captured in a field behind the store by three employees. He was charged with grand theft and jailed. No further details were released.
