Two Bids Withdrawn as Village Considers Dispatcher Hire

At a special meeting in New London two of three bids for emergency monitoring and dispatch services were withdrawn. Robert Luxon’s bid of 20,400 was accepted in principle but action held until a firm liability insurance quote arrives. Luxon expects 19,700 plus 700 for insurance and may decline if insurance cannot be obtained. Barbara Mendez’s 9,260 bid was withdrawn after her lack of awareness of required services. Beverly McQuare Wetten’s 12,000 bid was withdrawn after questions about operating plans. Luxon foresees a five-person, 24/7 operation from News Center serving police, fire, ambulance, electric coop, two banks, and five industries, with costs possibly exceeding 39,000 if village staff run the service locally. revenue from commercial accounts could top 10,000 yearly to offset costs.
