Bumper Beat Cited Involving Multiple City Crashes
A Norwalk man was cited for failing to stop in an assured clear distance after his car rear ended another on Benedict Avenue. Harold Lemon, 21, was driving northbound at 9:00 p.m. The other driver was Arthur Dickman, 50. Police also cited Scott Meek, 16, after his car struck a telephone pole on Parsons Street. Michael Smith, 28, of Plymouth, was cited for driving under the influence following a near head on on Ohio 61 near County Road 242. Dennis C. Smith, 21, was injured riding a motorcycle on U.S. 20 near Prairie Road. Police logged two more wrecks involving motorcycles on Townline and Peru Center roads, with drivers cited for failure to yield and excessive speed. Nearby, Gary Browand, 18, of Wellington, was cited for reckless operation after a northbound car rolled over on U.S. 60. Further, Bonnie Lukakso, 20, was cited for excessive speed near a bridge on Austen Road.
