Rampage in Muskegon Nets 28 Arrests After Dance Fallout

About 1,000 young African Americans rioted after a downtown Muskegon dance, throwing rocks and looting three jewelry stores. Police with state troops and county deputies restored order. three people were injured and 28 arrests were made though others were released.

The House Commerce Committee approved a measure to end the five week airline walkout amid doubts it will pass the Senate version. Chairman Harley O. Staggers warned of chaos if the bill reaches the floor next week as pressure grows to halt the strike.

At an emergency meeting 20 district superintendents warned Ohio must fill 1,500 to 2,900 teaching posts by fall. Two to three building plan eyed for Bowling Green campus

The Bowling Green University tri county campus building committee rejected three preliminary single-building schemes and wavered on a fourth Scheme D proposing three or four structures. Dream Plan Outlined for Bowling Green University Campus

Dr. Kenneth McFall of Bowling Green State University presented a preliminary tri county campus plan drawn by Visnapuu Gaede Architects. The scheme features a peanut shaped ring road surrounding most buildings, parking outside, three entrances from Bogart Rye Beach and Boss Roads, and a central landmark concourse area with four major walkways converging. Feasibility for 1980 remains uncertain.

Sisson Named Norwalk Police Captain

George Sisson promoted to Norwalk police captain to fill the vacancy from Orin Doane retirement. Appointment comes from the Civil Service eligibility list and is effective Tuesday. Doane returns Monday from vacation. Sisson resides at 51 State Street. Richard Mahaffey, recently named as a special policeman, receives a regular appointment.

Norwalk Man Pinned Under Car In Route 61 Crash

A Norwalk man, 21, is in fair condition at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital after being pinned under a car in a Route 61 crash northeast of Norwalk at 3 10 this morning. The driver, Thomas Shaffoe, 20, Whittlesey Avenue, sustained a shoulder injury and was cited for not keeping to the right. A passenger Earl Stoltz, 21, Chat ham Street, sustained leg burns from the exhaust.
