Helen Williams of Columbus wins the Ohio Lottery top prize of 55000 in Pot o Gold. Her 77 year old husband Frank had leg trouble and she hopes he will feel better next week to share the excitement. Other numbers drawn listed.
Fremont Ohio Trudy Klotz a former clerk in the Sandusky County auditor s office was found guilty of stealing 1730 from the dog and kennel fund. A Sandusky County jury returned the verdict Thursday. The state seeks recovery of the money and she faces up to three years in jail pending sentencing.

New York police officer Michael Cataneo recalls issuing a parking ticket that linked to David Berkowitz and helped end the Son of Sam manhunt. He notes another officer might have found the clue, as detectives traced summonses from the area and tied Berkowitz to the crime.
UPI reports Gould Inc official William Andrew Weinkamer, manager of Crevite de Mexico in Naucalpan de Juarez, was abducted by three men with submachine guns after leaving his office. The Rev. Robert Lautenschlager of Painesville says a former parishioner William A. Weinkamer belonged to his church before leaving for Mexico City about a year ago. He is believed kidnapped by armed men this week. Weinkamer is described as manager of Crevite de Mexico, S.A., with ties to a Cleveland firm merged into Gould Inc. The minister recalls no current employer and notes the family aims to keep details quiet to protect him.
Gov James A Rhodes signed a measure giving the Ohio Department of Taxation new powers to combat cigarette bootlegging. The law, effective Nov 11, makes selling or transporting untaxed cigarettes a crime and allows arrests with warrants and concealed weapons. Convicted possessors of over $60 in untaxed cigarettes may face six months to five years in prison.
In two downtown Norwalk precincts 1-C and 3-A voters will decide in November whether hard liquor may be sold on Sundays. A local option petition filed by the Norwalk Bowling Center seeks one of two choices: A allowing Sunday sale 1 PM to midnight in licensed bars and restaurants, or B limiting Sunday liquor sales to establishments where food and other goods and services exceed 50 percent of total receipts. The petition collected 164 valid signatures, above the 118 required, with the option slated for the November 8 ballot.
