Searchers in Loveland seek infrared cameras to assist German Shepherd and bloodhound teams locating bodies buried beneath mud in Big Thompson canyon after a historic flood. Sheriff says over 100 bodies found, but only a quarter identified amid waist high debris.
In Mt. Sterling Ohio UPI reports 13 year old Bobby Williams is diagnosed with scleroderma in April. The rare disease hardens skin to a stone like texture affecting about 20 000 people worldwide. Doctors at University of Oregon Medical Center consider his case the worst they have seen while researching for a cure.
CBS correspondent Daniel Schorr said he recalls no talk with Rep. James Stanton about obtaining a House intelligence report from the CIA. Stanton testified that Schorr claimed the document came “from the CEA” in a February lobby conversation, a point he questioned as possibly a joke. The ethics committee presses to identify the leak behind Schorr’s Village Voice publication.
Fort Worth Texas justice W W Matthews defended an $80 000 bond for oil executive Cullen Davis, saying Davis was drunk when charged with killing his stepdaughter and his wife's lover and that the public perception of a millionaire should not raise the bond. He added Davis likely will not hurt anyone again.

The Huron County Airport Authority and Ron Zoellner Aviation plan the biggest county air show on Aug. 15 amid a lease dispute. The event features female jet and stunt flying, a flag jump, wing walking, aerobatics by Robert and Pat Wagner, and Navy Parachuting Team if funding allows. Admission ranges from 1 to 3 dollars, with free parking north of the hangar and potential rain date a day later.
State virology labs tentatively rule out influenza as the Legion convention linked illness source. Gov. Shapp says data suggest another virus or toxic chemical may be involved while tests continue at Philadelphia labs and CDC. The latest death is Arlene Muffley, 55, of Lycoming County.

Ron Zoellner challenges the Huron County Airport Authority in a 1.1 million suit. A 2 p.m. Friday hearing before Judge Robert J. Vetter will review a temporary injunction to block a lease to a new operator. The Authority seeks eviction and 120000 in damages. other defendants may face motions at the hearing.
Two Cleveland area youths aged 14 and 15 were arrested after a chase on Ohio 303 ended with a ditch near Butler Road. Officers recovered a bag of marijuana and sunglasses as they questioned the teens and learned they lived close to where the car had been stolen. The youths were released to parents and await Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court on car theft charges.
Thomas Payne, 47, of Chambersburg, recounts a severe illness after attending a Philadelphia Legion convention. Two friends, Elmer Hafer and James Dolan, died from the mystery disease. Epidemiologist Stephen Thacker leads a CDC probe, interviewing patients across Pennsylvania to identify the outbreak.
