MOSCOW AP Kosygin won a unanimous four year mandate to head the Soviet government. The vote ends Western retirement speculation and solidifies Kosygin’s leadership role in the USSR.

Edwin W. Price moves to strike a separate answer filed for Miss Whitney a minor by Parker M Orr guardian appointed by Baker Hostetler Patterson firm representing the Reflector Herald Inc and Dedaimia Whitney. Price argues the guardian answer denies all material allegations prejudicial to the defendant and duplicates the newspaper reply increasing costs.
Austin Texas students and faculty described Charles J. Whitman as a mature, serious, and well liked young man. Alumni and neighbors recalled his helpful nature, fondness for family, and skill as a marksman after his shooting.
A lone gunman, Charles Whitman, fatally wounded 15 people and wounded 30 others during an 80 minute attack on the University of Texas campus, ending when police officer Ramiro Martinez shot him atop the 27 story tower. Whitman left notes blaming his father and detailing his planned assault, while investigators recovered weapons and a camera with a developing note.
An Illinois woman died of a heart attack Sunday morning at Fisher-Titus hospital while visiting a patient.
Otto Hershe 76 of 4 Spring St. sustained a head cut requiring six stitches after a two car collision at 10 p.m. Monday in Monroeville. His pickup failed to stop at a light at U.S. 20 and Ohio 547, striking Mary Faulkner 59 of Sandusky driving northbound on U.S. 20. Hershe’s vehicle then crashed into Hess Hardware window valued at 1,200. Faulkner’s car had moderate damage.
President Johnson called for swift congressional passage of gun control bills, expanding limits on mail order handgun sales and adding rifles and shotguns. He expressed regret for the Austin killings and sent sympathy to Chancellor Harry Ransom as lawmakers faced renewed pressure to act.
Willard city leaders begin steps to appropriate farmland along State 61 east of Willard for a proposed 500000 gallon reservoir near the Huron River. The council adopted a resolution to pursue legislation to acquire land owned by Leland Stein after failed price talks. Stein asked 94000 while offers of 40000 and higher amounts were rejected. The project forms part of a roughly 1 million dollar water expansion including lines to a new treatment plant on Central Avenue. Annexation actions have started to bring in adjacent parcels on Fort Ball Road owned by Mrs. Bertha Stockley and Toney Mastron, both acquired by R R Donnelley and Sons Co, which seeks annexation.
