Bundy Faces Third Charge in Leach Kidnapping Murder
Theodore Bundy, already charged with two FSU coed killings, is now charged with the kidnap murder of 11 year old Kimberly Diane Leach. The sealed indictment was unsealed by Circuit Judge Wallace Jopling, and a detainer placed on Bundy, held in Leon County Jail. The case links Bundy to Leach's disappearance from Lake City Junior High on February 9 and her body found April 7 near Suwannee River State Park. Bundy had already faced charges for beating two coeds at Chi Omega and is acting as his own lawyer while awaiting Millard Farmer's takeover.

Carter admin challenged over Ohio health planning role
Columbus reports State Health Director John Ackerman says the Carter administration is trying to influence Gov. Rhodes reelection by withholding permanent designation of the Ohio Department of Health as the state health planning agency. Ackerman cites a July 14 notice granting only conditional approval to Sept. 30 and cites HEW criticism of hospital projects at Dayton and Marion. The issue is presented as political pressure linked to regional HEW administrator E. Frank Ellis, a former Stokes ally.
