Police said thieves spent seven to eight months digging a 45 foot tunnel from a nearby building into a bank vault and looted about 2.1 million dollars over the weekend. The crime was found when the bank reopened Monday and authorities continued investigating.
North Fairfield and Willard residents rushed to basements as four funnel clouds skirted the area Monday night. No injuries or damage reported. Willard trailer park evacuated, sirens and cable alerts issued, and shelters set at City Hall.

Federal officials accuse Jon Tyrone Sharp of filing 117 income tax returns seeking 134550 in refunds and receiving a 1274 refund. He surrendered to authorities after a bond hearing before U S Magistrate Olga Jurco, with A U S A William B Lytton outlining the case.
Norwalk Planning Commission meets at 7 30 pm at city hall while the Huron County Airport Authority and the Board of Education also hold sessions at 7 30 pm and 8 pm respectively.
