Norwalk Plans Challenge to County Investment Practice
Norwalk remains set to challenge Huron County’s practice of investing tax funds before distribution, arguing that interest earned on undivided city funds should be pro rated to the city. If Norwalk secures victory, other subdivisions may also seek their share, affecting the county’s finances. The city expects about 125000 in first half 1955 real estate tax funds, with roughly 20000 in fees, while the county has held the interest. The dispute hinges on a state law about distributing interest from undivided funds and its exceptions.
