Quick Thinking Leads to Rescue After Trunk Takeover
Former Norwalk man Robert Landenberg, 32, of North Olmsted, was forced into his car trunk by two gunmen during a violent ride in Cleveland. He used a written HELP note to attract attention, aiding police who pursued and halted the car. A 26-year-old and two 17-year-olds were arrested. driver escaped. Landenberg, a Harshaw Chemical Co. supervisor, sustained minor injuries and plans to move to the Philadelphia area with his family.

The Bi-County Erie-Huron County Community Action Committee will stay open through December 31 with $190,000 from a local initiative fund. Norwalk Jaycees member Michael G. Ruggles elected state vice president for District 51 Jaycees at the April 8 district meeting hosted by Norwalk. He will liaison between area chapters and the state organization and also earned an achievement certificate for founding a Willard chapter. James Zellner of Willard will compete at state level May 5 after winning the district speak-up for the state competition.
