Elizabeth Giles, mother of a 21-year-old soldier, received a sympathy card and a funeral money order for her son in Viet Nam. An Army official later announced a mix up: another soldier with the same surname, Barney Giles, was killed and her son William Giles was wounded.

Thieves Raid Rural Tavern Near Greenwich

Burglars broke into Centerton Tavern near Greenwich stealing liquor wine cigarets cigars sausage candy bars gum cough drops and coins from vending machines and a juke box. Entry was gained by breaking a rear door pane after climbing rooftop access was blocked. The report was filed with the Huron County Sheriff's Department at 10 30 Saturday morning.

Vandalism Targets Local High School and St Paul Schools

Over the weekend vandals smeared paint on doors and bricks at Nor walk High School and on St Paul School buildings. Police investigated the incidents and no injuries were reported.
