New Northwest Side Civic Group Forms to Tackle Juvenile Problem
About 100 residents and business leaders attended a kickoff meeting at Blackhawk Park to form a Northwest Side independent civic group. Ald. Aiello pledged support and will arrange committee appointments to study juvenile delinquency and the Crosstown expressway issue. Cmdr. Mark Thanasorous will join today’s parley to highlight police concerns. The group already sent a delegation to the City Plan Commission as it studies area needs and will seek public input over the next three to six months.

Confidence men posing as police detectives bilk bank savers
West-Northwest Side residents were targeted by con men posing as police detectives or bank examiners from Pioneer Trust and Savings Bank at 4000 North. They urged victims to hand over savings for an fake investigation, with two incidents on one day. One victim telephoned first, another withdrew 1800 dollars then redeposited after speaking with a bank officer.
