Our Lady of Angels wins zoning approval for parish center

The Our Lady of Angels church at 3812 Ohio gained zoning board of appeals consent to build a two story parish center at 816 N Hamlin, despite land size limiting setback compliance. Approval allows bidding to start soon with construction hoped to begin in October. The project, costing about 400000, includes a gym and meeting spaces and uses funds from the Catholic Church Project Renewal.

Humboldt Park Offers Wide Outdoor Recreation In Chicago

Humboldt Park on the Northwest Side provides acres of space for baseball softball tennis swimming sailing and soccer. The park hosts a day camp for 105 youths 8 to 11 and the Rainbow Fleet of 60 young sailors ages 11 to 16. Pools measure 60 by 125 feet and 40 by 60 feet with lifeguards. the soccer field is new and popular. many seniors play cards in the shade while youths use ball fields. The park is bounded by North California Augusta and Kedzie and features bike paths and shaded quiet areas.

Four Men Terrorize 74-Year-Old Woman in Home Loot

Four young men knocked at 2626 N Spaulding just after midnight, forced entry, tied Mrs Helen Martin, and looted the apartment taking 125 dollars. A masked intruder held a revolver while others ransacked the kitchen. she refused medical care for a head cut. The suspects fled in a car.

Six bus loads of Shakespeare district residents toured Central Police Headquarters on July 25 in a community workshop. Attendees visited the communications center and crime lab, observed radio dispatching of squad cars, and praised the police operations for efficiency.

Residents in the 1100 block of N Keystone plan an annual block party from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday with a picnic supper games prizes ice cream dancing and entertainment. Block residents and former residents are expected to provide a full street attendance.

Bum Bills Result In Pair's Arrest

An alert clerk refused to change a $20 bill he identified as counterfeit and noted the suspects license number. Patrolmen Ferraro and Rybicki arrested Ray Wilson and Ronald Hays after seeing them in front of 1615 N Pulaski and witnessing counterfeit bills in the car.
