Madeira voters and school administration plan a town meeting at the high school to discuss the future of Madeira Schools. Board president James Perin says the meeting seeks input from yes and no voters and nonvoters alike before a June 29 vote.
Early copy deadline for the June 2 issue has been advanced to noon Friday May 28. The Suburban Life office will be closed, and cooperation is requested.
Eric Chermely an eighth grade student at St. Vincent visits the Nick Clooney show with a space ship scale model. Impressed Kenwood Mall merchants invite him to display the model in the shopping center. Eric is the son of Mr and Mrs H F Chermely 7752 Montgomery Rd Travel King travel agency associate father.
The Madeira Recreation Commission invites applications for the recreation director post. Applications may be submitted at the municipal building located at Miami and Euclid. deadline is June 4.
Silverton Council votes unanimously to initiate annexation of 27 acres along Stewart Road after Hamilton County approval. If confirmed after two more readings, the I-71 interchange area and adjacent 900 feet would join Silverton. Chief Dye notes Crime Control Council changes and district planning shifts.
To those who gave their all down the corridors of time memory recalls brave men who sacrificed for honor home and country. Their acts courage and beliefs inspire. Our community salutes servicemen who died for freedom and reflect with gratitude on Memorial Day.
On June 5 a gala parade will kick off Ridge Day activities. Jean Turner notes a hot time in Pleasant Ridge as the community and outside groups join to make Ridge Day the best in its history. General chairman Terri Parker and co-chairman Marjorie De Jonckheere oversee events. Nick Clooney leads the parade kickoff.
Deer Park issues call for a male playground counselor and a female playground leader to supervise activities at Chamberlain Park. Applicants need high school grads with some child experience. residency in Deer Park preferred. Contact J Henry Camp at 791-1081 for details. The Ridge hosts a large day parade with Taft and Sting guests, Kiwanis judges, and multiple entertainment acts as fund drive for a new recreation center.
Lifelines members of SYCAMORE VFW Post 3744 join other posts in the 50th annual Buddy sale supporting disabled veterans and families, with drives at Dillonvale Kenwood Deer Park Rossmaye Blue Ash Silverton and Tri County Shopping Center. Dr Harold B Spitz leads radiology refresher course registration at UC Medical Center for June 15. Madeira High girls set city and school records in track with Michelle Mueller leaping 4 ft 11 in and Vicki Clever running 220 yard dash in meet versus Amelia, Madeira winning.
